Who we are
highgroundfilm.com is run by Dash Pictures, the company that made High Ground. We decide how the information on this site is used, which makes us the data controller under UK data protection law. Questions or requests go to info@dashpictures.com.
Dash Pictures is the trading name of Dash Production Services Ltd, registered in England and Wales, company no. 14482683. Registered office: 100-106 Leonard St, London, EC2A 4RH, UK.
What we collect and why
- Email updates. If you sign up for updates, we keep your email address, the city you give us (optional), and when and how you signed up. We use them to email you about screenings near you, the film's release and related news. We only do this because you asked us to (your consent), and you can stop it at any time.
- Screening reminders. If you press Remind me on a screening, we keep your email address, the city you give us (optional) and which screening it was, so we can email you when its tickets or details change. We only email you about that screening, unless you also ticked the box to join the mailing list. We delete it once the screening has happened, and every reminder has a link to stop them.
- Screening requests. If you ask us to bring the film to your venue or town, we keep your name, email, organisation, city and message so we can reply and plan screenings. We do this to answer your request (our legitimate interest in arranging screenings).
- Getting to know our audience. To understand who's interested in the film, we may look up publicly available, professional information about subscribers, such as their job or organisation, using web search. It's a short internal note that only our team sees, we never share it, and we never look for anything sensitive. We do this in our legitimate interest in reaching the right audiences. You can object, or ask us to delete it, at any time.
- Visitor numbers. We count page views with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't identify you or follow you across other sites. It records things like the page, the country and the type of device, only in totals. We don't use advertising trackers, and the site sets no cookies for visitors. The trailer only loads from Vimeo when you press play, with Vimeo's “do not track” setting on.
Unsubscribing
Every update has an unsubscribe link at the bottom, and most email apps show an Unsubscribe button too. Either one takes you off the list straight away. We keep your address on a do-not-email list afterwards, only so we never email you again. If you'd like it deleted completely, email us.
Who handles your information for us
We use a few trusted services to run the site. They only process your information on our instructions:
- Vercel hosts the website and counts visits.
- Supabase stores the mailing list and screening requests, on servers in the EU.
- Resend sends our emails.
- Anthropic (Claude) helps us with admin tasks, including the audience research above.
Vercel, Resend and Anthropic are US companies, so your information may pass through the United States when a page loads or an email is sent. Where it does, they protect it with the safeguards UK law requires, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the UK-US data bridge. We never sell your information or share it with anyone for their own marketing.
How long we keep it
- Mailing list: until you unsubscribe, and then only your address on the do-not-email list.
- Screening reminders: until the screening has happened, or until you stop them.
- Screening requests: up to two years after we last hear from you, unless we're still working on a screening together.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. Email info@dashpictures.com and we'll reply within a month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
If you live in California, you have similar rights to know about, delete and correct your information. We don't sell or share personal information as California law defines it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your email address, we'll tell you by email first.
